Tummy Tuck

What is a tummy tuck?

If you have excess skin or fat around your stomach, you’ve probably considered liposuction. But Dr. Peck can go one step further, not just removing the excess fatty tissue but also tightening the abdominal muscles. During a tummy tuck, also called an abdominoplasty, he corrects loose, sagging skin, removes fat, and tightens muscles. The result is a firm abdominal wall that gives you the flat stomach you want.

Am I a good candidate for a tummy tuck?

Ideal candidates for tummy tucks are adults in good health. This procedure is especially helpful for patients dealing with excess skin around the abdomen, including women who have had babies and men and women who have lost significant amounts of weight.

The results from a tummy tuck are permanent. That said, weight gain and loss changes your abdominal area and can diminish the results from your procedure. If you plan to lose a significant amount of weight or you’re a woman who plans to have a baby, it’s best to wait on your tummy tuck. Richard Peck Plastic Surgery will be ready to help you get the flat stomach you want after your body has gone through these changes.

What happens during a tummy tuck?

Dr. Peck customizes your tummy tuck. He offers both partial and complete abdominoplasty.

Partial tummy tuck

During a partial tummy tuck, he focuses on fat and excess skin on the lower portion of your stomach.

Complete tummy tuck

A complete tummy tuck transforms your entire abdominal area. During most complete tummy tucks, Dr. Peck even adjusts the position of the patient’s belly button.

Depending on the type of tummy tuck you receive, your procedure can last anywhere from one to up to five hours. Dr. Peck uses general anesthesia so you can sleep comfortably as he transforms your abdomen.

You may need to stay overnight after your surgery. Richard Peck Plastic Surgery makes sure you know exactly what to expect during your recovery period. Dr. Peck works with you so you heal quickly and can enjoy your new, flat stomach as soon as possible.
